about NABC

North America Bengali Conference (Banga Sammelan) is popularly known as NABC. It originated back in 1981 when a handful of members of the Cultural Association of Bengal (CAB) started a relatively small-scale Bengali cultural event in New York. In no time, this event expanded geographically across North America, and annually, NABC is being organized by CAB in different cities mostly in collaboration with the local Bengali association(s).

This year, NABC will celebrate its 42nd year of this gala event. The glorious history of NABC is taken aloft because of the relentless effort by the Bengali origins living in the US and Canada

NABC leverages the distinguished patrons, participants, and a widespread mix of personalities to discuss issues affecting the Bengali-speaking NRI community including cultural identity, the future of the community, its role in an increasingly dynamic and globalized economy, and engaging the next generation. There are plenty of networking opportunities, reunions, film screenings, literary readings, cultural performances, and drama. NABC Idol singing competition – all emphasizing Bengali culture. The goal of this year’s Banga Sammelan is to shift the paradigm of the conference from a focus on socialization and entertainment to an emphasis on the exchange of ideas to create a cohesive Bangali, inspire the next generation, and leave a legacy for the future.
